Ireland - Donegal and West Coast

Monuments here are at least five thousand years old. This type shows a burial chamber surrounded by a ring of stones. There are numerous people buried in the one chamber. Carrowmore stands in the centre of a landscape of such monuments. In the distance you can see Knocknarea Mountain with a large rock cairn and tomb right at the top that is named after Maeve, legendary Queen of Connacht.
